My Writing Goals for 2023

The beginning of the New Year is when we reflect on our previous year and dream about all that is to come in the next calendar year. I have a lot of goals for 2023 and some of them pertain to my writing, so today I'm going to share what my writing goals are for 2023.

I'l be breaking up 2023 into quarters as a way to make stay on track and keep things more manageable. We'll see how that goes after Q1 and I might wind up adjusting it.

Right Now:

  • Create my story binder
  • Finish plotting and researching
  • Print out outline and all materials that I will need and put them in my story binder so that I'll be ready to go in January.

Q1 (January - March):

  • Start rewrites of Murder at The Manor
    • Note: I use the word rewrite because although I haven't finished the first draft yet, I'll be using my new outline as well as some prose from my previous draft while finishing this new draft. Not sure if that makes sense or not but it does to me! lol
  • Run through Grammarly
  • Share first draft with my Mom and get her notes
  • Work on edits and create 2nd draft

Q2 (April - June)

  • Read through draft again & edit
  • Work on querying process
    • Research literary agents
    • Find out what is needed
    • Work on draft of query letter
  • Begin submitting in June
  • Work on outline for second book in the series

This is a project that I've been working on for a long time and I'm really looking forward to moving forward with it in the upcoming year. I've always wanted to be a published author and I hope that with hard work and perseverance I can make that dream come true.

More details soon!
