My First & Second Book of the Month Boxes

I've seen enough advertisement for Book of the Month on Instagram, so when they advertised a coupon code where you could get your first box for $9.99 I decided to take the plunge and sign up!

What can I say? I'm easily swayed by discounts and coupon codes! Lol.

So I signed up and went through the process of picking my first book of the month. My pick for February was Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers, which I am very excited to read. I'm currently catching up on some eArcs that I have but once I'm done, Honey Girl is going to be the first book I check out.

On March 1st, I received the notification on my phone that I could open the app to pick out my book for March. The cool thing is that once your monthly membership is charged ($14.99, and I believe I was charged on 2/23/21) you can just go online and pick out your book and it ships to you for free.

I like that. As a woman who loves discounts and coupon codes, the words FREE SHIPPING are very near and dear to my heart. Back before I had Amazon Prime I would always make sure that I filled my cart with enough items to hit that $35 minimum free shipping mark.

I'm not the only one, right?

So how it works is that you get to pick one of their curated selections for your March pick. If you want to add on any other books, they're just $9.99 each I believe. And that is an incredibly good price for a hardcover book!

So far March, I decided to get 3 books because I just couldn't help myself.

My second box of books

Did I need that many books? No. Probably not. But I really love Red, White, and Royal Blue and since the first time I read it was as an audiobook, I really wanted a hard copy. And The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a last minute pick but it's a book that I've been wanting to read for a while so this seemed like a good opportunity to pick up a copy.

Will I purchase add ons every month? No, I don't think so. I have a lot of reading to do and enough on my TBR list as it is. But I wanted to try it out and these books just happened to strike my fancy!

So that is my first Book of the Month Experience! I will say that none of the March picks were that thrilling to me, but I decided to go for it anyway. I could have skipped this month but since it's only my second month, I decided to take a chance on a book that I may or may not like.

That's the nice thing about books. There are so many out there that you can try new things and if you don't like it? It's all good. Just move on to the next one.

Are you a Book of the Month member? Let me know what your pick for March was. I just wasn't that crazy about this month's picks but maybe you'll change my mind! Haha.
