Expanding my Etsy Shop This Year

For those of you who don't know, I run an Etsy shop called Quietly Written. I publish zines about a variety of topics. One of my most popular items that I sell is my zine pack that's all about pen pals and letter writing.

It's my side hustle. I make these zines as a way to express myself creatively. I self publish them in my Etsy shop as a way to share my thoughts and opinions with the world.

Over the course of January, my shop did much better than it normally does, bringing in 9 sales totaling $51. I'm hoping that over the course of this year I can create some new products and develop my creative business even more this year.

Since this blog is a place for my to get real and be honest about my personal finance and side hustle goals, today's blog post is going to be a place for me to brainstorm some ideas for my Etsy shop.

Goals for 2021

  • Start a website for Quietly Written
    • Post weekly to the blog
    • Share behind the scenes photos of my workspace
    • Share occasional videos of my creative process
    • Share with others about how they can make their own zines. It's really a therapeutic process for me and I know other people can benefit it too.
  • 12 new zines this year
    • 1 new release every month
  • Work on my drawing
    • I've always made my zines very text heavy because I have a LOT to say. But I'd like to work on developing my art and drawing skills this year.
  • Maybe start a Patreon?
    • Something I've considered is starting the Quietly Written Zine Club on patreon in which members would receive each new zine I release in the mail each month. I'm still noodling around with this idea. We'll see how this year goes.
That's it for now. As I'm writing this blog post, I'm working on two new zines. One is a new issue of Starry Nights which is going to be filled with different lists and ideas.

The other is called Quietly Written and it's going to be a place for me to discuss what's going on in my creative life.

What are you working on right now? Do you have a side hustle or an Etsy shop that you're trying to work on right now? Let me now in the comments because I'd love to hear about it.
